My 10 Year Struggle With Acne!

Just about everyone out there has suffered from acne at some point. Many believe it is a rite of passage that teenagers have to go through. Yet there is a huge difference between having a couple of blackheads and your entire face being broke out. Some people think the world is coming to an end due to a pimple or two forming the night before a big event.

Sorry, but you won’t get sympathy from me or many others who have had to suffer with chronic acne. It isn’t something that we can control and it affects our life in many ways. I didn’t have any self confidence by the time I found a cure for my acne. I had tried just about every product out there too so it wasn’t like I didn’t try to take care of it any way I could.

Even though I had great parents and some close friends I just didn’t feel like I fit in due to my acne. While everyone was acting silly for the camera all I could think about what that my acne would be showing up in those photos. Hard to smile or goof off when you feel like that. In fact it got to the point where I was the one often taking those pictures just so I had an excuse not to be in them.

The market is saturated with products that claim they will clear up your acne. So of course I did what most other people do – get my parents to buy them for me or just go pick a few of them up myself. Generally they are quite affordable but when I look back over the course of time I am sure I spent a small fortune on these ineffective acne products.

After a long battle with over the counter acne products I surrendered. I figured that there wasn’t anything out there left to try. I had been paying attention to ingredients and many of those products contain the same things. They are just marketed differently and packaged differently.

It was time to kick things up a notch if I was going to ever see the end of this acne. It was evident by this point that I had more than just the occasional breakout that most teenagers go through. I wanted to try something spectacular that had some credibility behind it. I began doing my own research online.

Murad Acne Complex didn't Help Me!

One acne treatment program that caught my attention was Murad Acne Complex. I loved that fact that a dermatologist is the one who created it. I figured he would definitely have enough experience and information under his belt to come up with something that works. I told you already that I had been reading the labels on the over the counter products out there. Most of them contain benzoyl peroxide.

This is a product that didn’t do well for my skin at all. I ended up with very dry skin that was also flaky. I noticed that Murad Acne Complex didn’t contain this ingredient and that was enough to encourage me to buy it. For $30 I got a three part system for me to implement daily into my routine. I made sure I knew what the process was and how to use each of them properly.
The first part of the product is the clarifying cleanser. This is to remove any dirt or debris that has built up on your face. The next step was to use the acne gel treatment as a way to exfoliate the skin. This was to remove dry and dead skin cells that bacteria can hide under. The final step was to apply a location containing moisturizer so my face wouldn’t dry out.

I couldn’t wait for four weeks to go by so I could see the difference in my acne. According to the information that was how long it would take for those miraculous results to appear. It also stated that 90% of those individuals who used it correctly would see significant results.

Well, I wish that at the end of four weeks I could tell you that I got great results. Instead of celebrating at this time though I was trying to wake up from a nightmare. This product didn’t give me anything but grief. My skin was on file and very tender to the touch. I even had swelling and red blotches on my face.

Instead of my acne clearing up it only got worse. I think the ingredients in the Murad Acne Complex actually caused me to break out more than I had in my entire life. I felt like someone had let all of the air out of me. I was desperate to get rid of my acne so each day it lingered was a problem for me to deal with. I found I had a hard time concentrating on social activities and even my studies.

Proactiv didn't work either

I wasn’t ready to give up yet though so I continued to search for something else to treat my acne with. I noticed that one of my idols Jessica Simpson was endorsing the Proactiv acne program. I guess I should have done more research on it though but that was a good selling point for me.

This particular was also a three step program that had to be followed each and every day. I spent $80, or I should say my parents did to get me a two month supply of it. According to all the advertisements I would see results within this time frame. I wasn’t as stressed out about my acne at this time though because school had just let out. I figured I would spend the summer focusing on clearing up my acne and return to school as a new person in a couple of months.

The good news is that during the two months that I tried Proactiv my breakouts didn’t get any worse than they already were. The bad news though is that they didn’t clear up at all. I was of course let down once again. This particular treatment for acne also contained benzoyl peroxide so my skin was damaged by it.

It was embarrassing that my skin was so dry that it was flaking all over the place. I took the time to exfoliate to remove the dead skin but it wasn’t enough. You could tell when I woke up in the mornings by all of it on the sheets that it was a battle that I was losing. I decided that I had to look for a better alternative as Proactiv just wasn’t going to do anything for my acne.

Not Even The Mighty Prescription Drug Accutane Could Help

My parents were really supportive but also tired of seeing my struggle with acne by this time. They knew my heartache each time a new product I had been excited about didn’t work out. They suggested that I see the doctor to see if there was anything that they could offer me to treat it. The possibility was a Isotretinoin called Accutane that was only available by prescription.

In order to take it I had to complete a series of assessments. Indicators of suicide and depression were looked at as Accutane has been linked to increasing such risks. My parents were very worried about this side effect and kept a very close eye on me. The doctor started me out with 20 mg per day but it didn’t give me very good results either. So it was increased to 30 mg.

I suffered from some very serious side effects with the Accutane though. I have to admit I was quite agitated while taking it. My lips were burning and numb and I was always thirsty. It was hard to sleep when you had to keep getting a drink through the night. I also got upset stomachs but learned to control that by only taking the Accutane after a good meal.

I thought the doctor was joking at first that I would have to limit my exposure to sunlight while taking it. He wasn’t though and that was just one more side effect to contend with. So my trips to the pool with friends were cut short that summer. I didn’t tell them the truth though about why. It was embarrassing enough that I had the acne and even worse that I couldn’t seem to get it under control.

My doctor was keeping close tabs on me as well. Even so, he informed me and my parents that this course of treatment wasn’t effective for me. He had told me to expect my acne to get worse when I started taking the Accutane. Yet he didn’t expect it to get as out of control as it did. In fact, I had the worse acne of my life in the weeks after I started taking it. I didn’t even want to leave the house at all.

I think it was around this time that I really hit rock bottom. I broke down to one of my friends that I didn’t want to go back to school or anywhere outside of the home. In fact, I was trying to convince my parents to let me complete my school work with one of the online programs.

I was finally able to get rid of my acne!

My friend was very understanding and encouraged me to try one more product. Instead of something to consume or a process to put on my face it was a completely different concept. I hadn’t heard of Acne Free in 3 Days, and to tell you the truth I was very skeptical of it. The name itself sounded like something being sold to get my money and nothing else.

I bought the book and I have to tell you that everything in it made a great deal of sense. It is essential a combination of methods to combat your acne in a couple of ways. First, you will detox your body so that toxins that allow bacteria responsible for acne to form will be eliminated. Second, you will apply various topical products to your skin. This combination of methods works to get rid of the acne you already have. At the same time it works to prevent you from getting additional acne outbreaks.

The book reveals some excellent information to help you remain free of acne too. For example I now know that there are certain types of foods that can trigger outbreaks. I also know the right way to wash my face as well as to dry it. I apply natural ingredients to give it a healthy glow without drying it out.

In order to prevent those acne outbreaks from coming back you have to continue these methods. Acne Free in 3 Days is a solution rather than a cover up for acne problems. As you continue to implement them they will become a part of your lifestyle. I would much rather give up a few things in my life than to continue suffering from acne as I once did.

I can tell you that in my particular case it did take more than three days for my acne to completely clear up. However, I was able to see immediate results once I implemented the requirements in the book. My skin has never been healthier and I have never been happier. How long it will take you depends on the severity of your acne.

What I can tell you though is for someone like me who tried every product out there including prescription medications it worked. Therefore the average person with some common acne problems should be able to benefit from it as well. Some people will avoid the Acne Free in 3 Days book because it sounds too easy.

I know that I almost passed it up myself. However, no one ever said that taking care of acne needed to be difficult. It just seemed to have turned out that way for me and countless others. I hope the long road it took me to become acne free isn’t the same one you have to travel. I hope you are able to take the information from Acne Free in 3 Days and make it work for you right now.
