Types of Acne
Acne is prevalent in many different races; it is an indiscriminate skin disorder that attacks both young and old alike. It has been associated with teenagers because it strikes them most often because of poor diets and changing hormones.
There are many different types of acne, and different levels of severity. The one thing that they all have in common is that they can be unsightly and embarrassing.
Congoblata
This type of acne is usually very mild. It can become severe if it is not treated properly. Congoblata Acne includes the following types of acne.
Whiteheads – these can be caused by when the skin is not cleaned properly causing the pores to become totally clogged with dead skin. When the pores are clogged, there is no place for the oils that it produces to go and bacteria starts growing. It is important that you use extreme caution when you pop the whitehead as it can leave very noticeable scarring.
Blackheads – this type of acne is caused by basically the same thing as a whitehead only the pores are partially clogged. The black color comes for the pigments in the skin with they are exposed to oxygen.
The more serious type of acne can sometimes require the services of a Dermatologist. This is a medical doctor who is specially trained to treat skin conditions and disorders.
Pimples – these are rather complicated because it takes a couple of days for them to appear. The first thing that happens is that papules form when the follicular wall breaks down and allows white blood cells to flow. This causes the pores to become red and inflamed. Over a period of a few days, the white blood cell travel to the skins surface and the pimple is formed. Severe cases of pimples are called nodules and can be very hot and painful.
The most severe cases of acne almost always require the care of a Dermatologist. He or she is specially trained in skin conditions and will know the newest and up to date treatments, which may involve medications and laser light therapy.
It is always important that you consult your physician when you start any form of treatment. He or she will advise you if it is right for your condition.
